Back to the four-story overview ↑Microsoft reports broader ARTEX abuse: address exposed credentials and web vulnerabilities together
Published in this issue:

Facts
In reports dated 5–6 November, Microsoft described observed ARTEX-assisted credential discovery and web attacks. Research included financial-sector targeting through upload and SSRF weaknesses; in a separate case, an agent moved from finding a public secret to Azure Key Vault data theft in about five minutes.
Analysis
Our analysis: these are vendor-observed activities, not evidence that every AI tool or financial institution is affected. Defenders need faster credential revocation and patching of exposed systems.
Suggested Actions
- Revoke and rotate exposed credentials, then review application permissions, sign-ins and data access. Removing a secret from public code alone is insufficient.
- Patch public websites, restrict uploads and service privileges, and monitor bursts of unusual requests followed by sign-ins.

Back to the four-story overview ↑WebSphere and Liberty advisories: apply the fix for the correct product branch
Published in this issue:

Facts
HKCERT's 6 November advisory covers WebSphere Application Server 9.0 and Liberty 17.0.0.3–26.0.0.11, with availability, disclosure and security-bypass risks. IBM provides interim fixes for the relevant CXF issues; some later fix packs are still listed as planned releases.
Analysis
Our analysis: a planned version is not an installed fix. Check available remediation against the product branch and enabled features.
Suggested Actions
- Check IBM's APAR references, interim-fix prerequisites and relevant features, and validate changes in a test environment.
- Plan maintenance and recovery, then check applications, integrations and error logs after updating.

Back to the four-story overview ↑OpenSSH 10.6p2 addresses an authentication bypass on specific Linux configurations
Published in this issue:

Facts
OpenSSH released 10.6p2 on 5 November to address a possible password-authentication bypass on Linux systems using musl libc with PAM disabled. These conditions matter; the notice does not mean every OpenSSH host is affected.
Analysis
Our analysis: check the installed package, C library and authentication configuration before choosing a patch. The SSH version alone does not establish exposure.
Suggested Actions
- Administrators should follow their distribution advisory and install 10.6p2 or a package containing the backported fix where applicable.
- Keep a working management session during maintenance, then verify authentication and service availability.

Back to the four-story overview ↑TP-Link router and extender updates: check C6, C7 and RE305 hardware revisions
Published in this issue:

Facts
HKCERT summarised several TP-Link issues on 5 November. Vendor notices cover credential-protection and other weaknesses in Archer C6 V2, Archer C7 V5 and RE305 V3. Some RE305 issues require local-network or existing local access; they are not all directly exploitable from the internet.
Analysis
Our analysis: a model name can cover different hardware and regional variants. Using the wrong firmware creates maintenance risks.
Suggested Actions
- Check hardware and region. Listed fixes include C6 V2 1.2.1 Build 260902, C7 V5 1.3.1 Build 20260821 and RE305 V3 1.1.8 Build 20260921.
- Follow vendor update instructions, protect configuration backups and verify connectivity and management access afterwards.

Back to the four-story overview ↑Amazon EKS isolation fix: check Network Policy Agent and VPC CNI versions
Published in this issue:

Facts
AWS's 4 November bulletin describes CVE-2026-122266: shared eBPF connection-tracking state may let an authenticated adjacent user bypass ingress NetworkPolicy enforcement for co-located pods. Versions before Network Policy Agent 1.3.7 and the VPC CNI managed add-on 1.22.3 are affected.
Analysis
Our analysis: configuring NetworkPolicy does not establish that its enforcement component is patched. Check running node components in multi-tenant environments.
Suggested Actions
- Upgrade Network Policy Agent to 1.3.7 and VPC CNI to 1.22.3, or applicable later releases.
- Test both allowed and denied connections, and verify that maintained forks contain the fixes.

Back to the four-story overview ↑Firecracker snapshot-memory issue affects specific self-managed setups; AWS Lambda is unaffected
Published in this issue:

Facts
AWS disclosed CVE-2026-122192 on 4 November, affecting Firecracker 0.23.0–1.16.1. Under particular host-memory conditions, snapshots restored with the File memory backend and balloon or virtio-mem devices may let guest root access Firecracker process memory. AWS says its services, including Lambda, are unaffected.
Analysis
Our analysis: distinguish self-managed Firecracker from managed AWS services. This notice does not require Lambda customers to patch the platform.
Suggested Actions
- Upgrade affected self-managed deployments to 1.16.2, 1.17.0 or applicable later releases.
- Inventory snapshot restore methods and maintained forks, then validate isolation and recovery against official guidance.

Back to the four-story overview ↑Chrome 157 fixes 213 security issues: check versions and restart
Published in this issue:

Facts
On 3 November, Google announced Chrome 157 stable with 213 security fixes, including several critical memory safety issues. The Windows and macOS builds are 157.0.8103.38/.39, and the Linux build is 157.0.8103.38; the rollout is phased. The Windows and macOS extended stable release, 156.0.8078.88, lists 55 security fixes.
Analysis
Our analysis: browsers routinely process content from websites. Organisations should manage updates according to the stable or extended stable channel they actually use, rather than assuming a configured policy means every device is current. Google’s release notices do not state that these vulnerabilities have been exploited in the wild.

Back to the four-story overview ↑Google investigates LLMJacking incidents that rapidly generated major cloud-model charges
Published in this issue:

Facts
On 2 November, Google Threat Intelligence Group and Mandiant described multiple 2026 investigations. After obtaining cloud identity tokens, service-account keys, personal access tokens, session tokens or LLM API keys, attackers abused enterprise model and compute resources. Google said unauthorised resource charges exceeded US$100,000 in a single day in individual incidents, while cumulative charges at some organisations reached US$1 million before access was revoked.
Analysis
Our analysis: LLMJacking is not limited to leaked API keys. Over-broad cloud permissions, exposed endpoints and model-gateway vulnerabilities can expand the impact. Organisations should bring model services into identity, secret, usage and cost monitoring rather than relying only on conventional endpoint alerts.
Suggested Actions
- Revoke and rotate suspected exposed cloud, service-account, repository and LLM API credentials, then review newly created accounts, keys, permissions and service-enablement records.
- Apply least privilege to model services and high-cost resources; disable unneeded services and segment API-key scopes by environment and model.
- Set granular usage quotas, budgets and cost-anomaly alerts; monitor low-volume credential tests, sudden high-volume model requests and unusual GPU provisioning.
- Patch and review model proxy and routing gateways, and automate secret scanning in repositories and deployment pipelines.
Scope:Global; Google's investigations covered North America, South America and Asia Pacific · Cloud threats
